YouTube
Step 1: Copy the YouTube Address. This should be fairly easy; go to the YouTube page and copy the URL in the handy box on the right of the video.

Ignore the little yellow message!
Step 2: Download the .flv file. Go to SaveVid.com and paste the URL in the big blank bar in the middle of your screen. Click the Download buttom and then click on the Download flv option. No, stop, don’t click on the mp4 option. Trust me, and make sure the “go_video” file actually has the .flv extension. It should have “VP6 Flash Video” in its type description. If not, right-click the file and select Rename, then add the .flv on the end.

Choose MPEG1
Step 3: Convert with FLV Converter. Go here to download for free. There’s no installer, just click on the torch icon to run. Click Add Files and select the .flv file, select the MPEG1 encoding and where you want the file saved, and click Process! A terminal should open to show you what’s going on.

Step 4: Enjoy. Note that I did all of this on my Windows laptop, but naturally there is a Linux way. Also, I chose MPEG1 because it was the best quality of video and audio for me, but that might be different for you.
